What the Association sets out to do
The Association's objectives, as set out in its statute, guide every activity we undertake on behalf of members and the public.
Support for members
Providing guidance and up-to-date information to members on nutrition and dietetics.
Public education
Educating the public, stakeholders and related professionals on nutrition, dietetics and healthy living.
National & international representation
Seeking and promoting the Association's participation in relevant forums and initiatives.
Public & political awareness
Raising awareness of the importance of nutrition and dietetics, and advocating for evidence-based policy.
Standards & ethics
Establishing and maintaining high standards of practice, regulation and a code of ethics for the profession.
Advisory liaison
Acting as an official representative with state and health authorities, and voluntary organisations.
Research & development
Encouraging, supporting and promoting research and development in nutrition and dietetics.
Welfare of members
Promoting and presenting the interests of Association members to local administrations and authorities.

✛ Article 7 · Structure
Membership
Three categories of membership, each reflecting a different stage of professional life.
FULL MEMBERSHIP
For registered dietitians
Open exclusively to persons duly registered as Dietitians with the Council for the Professions Complementary to Medicine (CPCM), aged 18 or over.
- Full voting rights at General Meetings
- Eligible for election to the Executive Committee
- Must remain in good standing with the CPCM
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
For allied professionals
For persons with an academic or professional interest in nutrition and dietetics who are not eligible for Full Membership.
- Access to Association updates and resources
- No voting rights
- Not eligible for election to the Executive Committee
STUDENT MEMBERSHIP
For students in training
For persons enrolled in a recognised course of study leading to eligibility for registration as a Dietitian.
- Support through your studies
- No voting rights
- Not eligible for election to the Executive Committee

The Executive Committee
Elected at the Founding General Meeting on 6 January 2026, the Committee manages the day-to-day affairs of the Association.

Events & continuing professional development
The Association meets regularly to serve its members and the profession:
- The Executive Committee meets at least once every month.
- An Annual General Meeting is held once every calendar year, where the annual report and accounts are presented.
- CPD sessions, workshops and other member events are organised throughout the year.

MAD launches online
The Association publishes its first website, giving members and the public a home for its mission, objectives and upcoming events.
Founding General Meeting
The Malta Association of Dietitians formally adopts its statute and elects its first Executive Committee, establishing the Association under the Voluntary Organisations Act (Cap. 492).
